All I can say is, I think something's been wrong for a couple of years now....it shifts smoother and runs quieter than I can ever remember!! The install fought me till the end but I won the battle and I couldn't be happier.

I don't know what might have been causing it but my take-off shutter has disappeared, obviously the whining is now gone (new bearings), and the shift pattern seems to be more crisp....and the best part of all, NO MORE KNOCKING!!!!!!! Glad I bit the bullet and had it done as it's probably the best money I've spent on the truck so far. Hopefully the 'ol gal will thank me for it.

That is great news. Enjoy! The builder sounds like he knows his stuff.

I'm also glad to hear your trans is nicely fixed.

What lubricant are you using in your trans?

The rebuild was a few dollars shy of a grand. A grand cheaper than what was previously quoted to me. Shorts....the guy really does know his stuff...he's been tinkering with transmissions for close to 30yrs. The last go around I used Royal Purple and other than the foul odor of the stuff it did just fine...the guy highly recommended it! Funds were a bit tight this go around so I opted for Amsoil which was about $6/qt cheaper. Both were highly talked about so I figure either way I went I'd be good.

It appears as though now the rear seal on the t-case is starting to leak....gotta fix that now. Bound to be a lot easier than what I just went through.

Have put a little over a 100 miles on it so far and I can't believe how good it "feels" when shifting....so much smoother and quieter.
