getting the front caliper off to replace pad.

I am in a race against the clock, and need to get the caliper off to replace worn pad. I took the two 13 mm bolts out, any recommendations on getting the stuck caliper out? TX in advance..

Is it stuck because of a wear ridge on the rotor? You can try to wedge a screwdriver between the pad and rotor and push the pistons back in.

you can also open the bleeder screw to let the fluid out. Makes collapsing the piston easier.

Thank you guys for the follow up.

The passenger side, was tight, and I used a screw driver as you said ts, and this did the trick. The top of the caliper came right out. Compressing the pistons back in was easier to perform as well, and pads went right in. Thanks for the tip, I appreciate it....

You should be able to pry with a screwdriver from the top or bottom of the caliper depending on what side you are working on. Don't let the caliper hang from the brake hose. I use one of the old brake pads and a c-clamp to push the pistons back in. Don't forget to use brake grease where the pads slide inside the caliper on the rattle clips.

Yes sir Surf, I did just that. Truck has 63,000 and the (3) of the front pads have around 15%-20% material left. The passenger side, inside was worn down to metal. Rotor did not gouge, and braking performance is back to optimal.

Sounds like you have a piston starting to stick. Hopefully greasing the slides is all the real problem was but I would drive maybe 1000 miles and pull the caliper and check for uneven wear again. If so you will need to replace the calipers. If not maybe drive another 5-6k miles and check again to be safe. Sticking calipers can cause expensive repairs fast!!

^^ yes the pistons were rusted, corroded, and I scraped off all the crap, and greased em up. I will check as you recommend and report back in. I used autozone Gold pads, not the SD's, and this truck is back to stopping on a DIME.

Cool. You should be good to go but yes, still double check them a few times. Could save you $$ in the future!!
