I have 4-10s thats a good gear. If you spend most of your time on the highway go 373s.

Makes sense to me. IF your gear ratio is too low, the engine will end up "lugging" too much to get up to speed. Lots of wasted fuel when that happens.

And just because the engine is at a slightly higher RPM doesn't mean it's using more fuel, does it? IT depends on how much load the engine is under, and with a lower gear ratio, that's comparable to a heavier load. If it's not clear, Im referring mainly to when you are accelerating from a stop.

IF a large majority of your driving is at highway speed, the 3.73's are probably best. But it's obvious (to me at least) that if you're doing mainly stop and go city driving, you're better off with the higher gear ratio.

Thanks for all the input guys. Too bad I found out dodge already quit ordering 06's, so whichever gears I find on the lot are gonna be it!

Sorry for chiming in so late. Yeah, I meant that if you do mostly city or stop/go type driving or lots of towing, get the 4.10's. If you do lots of highway driving with light loads or light towing, go 3.73's. If you're exactly 50/50 on each type of driving, I would still go with the 4.10's for the following reasons (1) getting 4.10's on 35's will essentially give you an effective gear ratio of a 31.8" tire on 3.73's which is closer to the stock setup, and (2) the fuel mileage is sooooo bad in stop/go with the 3.73/35's, anything to improve that will help regardless of your freeway habits. Just my .02. essgeetee, it hopefully won't be too hard to find a rig with the setup you want.

Yeah, after all the research I've done 4.10's seem perfect for 35's to maintain close to stock ratio.... About how much $ would it run me to change them out later? There's always the chance I could find someone who wanted to trade too! :P

I've got 35s, 4.10s, and the NV5600. It is a great combo for power and towing. I can stay in 6th almost all the time on the highway and only downshift on slower, steep hills. Keep me from lugging it. Unloaded I wish I had a 7th gear, but it also helps me keep my speed under 70mph
