Gearing Question

I recently bought an 05 cc sb 6 speed and was wondering what gears i had. I had an 01 with the 5 spd and this truck seems to have a LOT more low end torque. I was thinking i might have 4.10's but i get 20+ mpgs so i dont think thats possible. At 65 mph in 6th gear i am just under 2 grand rpm. Do i have 4.10's or the standard 3.73's?

Just based off of what you have said, it sounds like you have the Getrag G56 transmission. In the 05's, there were two manual 6 speed transmissions offered, the NV5600 and the later G56. The G56 is geared a lot lower than the NV5600 was & is similar to the autos with a 4.10 ratio in terms of highway RPM's. Also the NV5600 was the last manual trans to be offered with a 4.10 ratio. 3.73's are the only thing available with a G56, but with the way it runs the RPM's, there is no need for any lower of a ratio.

In late, late 06 Dodge/Getrag introduced an updated G56 that had a higher 6th gear ratio, .73 I believe. Not a huge difference, but it helped get the RPM's down a little on newer trucks.
