Gasoline Contamination

How can you determine if you have gasoline contamination in the diesel? I just drained some fuel from the filter and, although my truck runs fine, the sample I drained has some gasoline smell to it.

A little gasoline in the diesel should not be a problem. 25 years ago, there were some here in cold Wyoming that added as much as 25% gas to their fuel, thinking it would prevent gelling. I certainly don't recommend it, but some gasoline should not be a problem.
