G56 and Transfer case fluid question

Well first off this is my first post on here and I would like to introduce myself. Im in the Air National guard as a welder/machinest and own a 2006 DRW 4x4 6sp Dodge 3500 CTD with a few mods. Originally from Oregon but have been to a lot of places around the world. I really like how this website is centered around dodges..its been helpful to me already. Ok enough BS'n on to my Question

How much fluid does the G56 and the transfer case take? Also for you that run Royal purple should I run the syncromax or the ATF? Manual states ATF but RP says syncromax...which one? Any other recommendations? I do tow a lot when im not on TDY if that helps any at all. I appriciate any info

If I am not mistaken, you should not run RP at all in your G56 and TCase. Dodge states to use an ATF+4. A few that I know of that make it are:
Amsoil
Redline
Petro Canada
Valvoline.
Mopar
There are others I am sure, but the last time I was on RP's site which was recently they did NOT have an ATF+4 compatible fluid.
Also, the G56 takes about 6 quarts, and your TCase should take almost two. These will not necessarily be an exact figure.

You dont have to use ATF +4 for the G56 or transfer case.
The additive package in +4 is mainly for the auto tranny clutches. You can use any off the shelf ATF fluid in either and you will be just fine.

Please post a link where it states this, as well as the recommendation from Dodge.

In additon, I should mention that you do not HAVE to run ATF+4/equivalent. You could run whatever you wish. ATF+4 is what is called for in the manual. That is up to the owner.

If we took dodge's direction on everything I guess we would all be using mopar 15w40 and mopar windshield wipers!

What I am trying to say is if you use Valvoline synthetic ATF in your transfer case its going to work just fine same goes for the G56.
I use quaker state ATF 3 in my transfer case since I have a boat load of the stuff left over from my 99 auto tranny truck....guess what, works great!

Mopar/Dodge/Chrysler is always going to recommend whatever puts the money in their pocket. Funny how one year Dodge recommended ATF 3 for a transfer case then recommended ATF 4 the next model year for the exact same transfer case.

Point well taken. Just a good idea to stay as close to warranty as possible on later models.

I run the RP syncromax in my tranny and t-case. The RP syncromax is made for manual trans that call for atf. It makes my trans shift alot smoother.
