G56 trans jumping out of reverse gear
When backing down a steep hill in reverse gear (ie. engine compression braking) the transmission jumped out of gear into neutral. I've been able to reproduce this several times, but you need a steep hill - 10-15% grade or better. The dealer couldn't reproduce it....OK I've now gone back a second time and told them to find a steeper hill.
I'm told that there is a reverse lock to prevent this, but my lock is unlocking...
Anyone else have this issue? Still under warranty, so good news there.

hi Speedy,
When it pops out I'm backing down a steep hill on loose gravel, so chances are the wheels are chattering. I've been told that loading and unloading the gearbox will cause this, so I gues it's normal.....Steve

If there is a steep hill near the dealer, where you know you can duplicate the problem, they may let you stop by and take the transmission technician for a quick drive so you can show him yourself.
