Ya thats definately true. I run around 23 to 2400 rpms at 80 mph. But other than the high revs I love mine. 30,000 miles and no problems, other than the clutch slippin with smarty turned up

Can you describe your current bearing sound a little more?

With 80K miles, mine has been making what sounds like input shaft bearing whine for about 6000 miles now, but only when the tranny is cold. With the transmission in neutral and the clutch engaged at idle, there is a whine. Push the clutch in and noise goes away. Once the transmission is warmed up, the noise disappears. Fluid looks fine. I had a transmission shop look at it and they said that I shouldn't worry about it, that transmission noises like that are not unusual, especially after they have some miles on them. Is your noise anything like what I descirbed?

I have 113,000 and tow 15k 50-125 miles a day, 5 days a week and never a problem yet. I get a noise when my clutch is engaged but I think it is just the dd talking.

Grenaded 4th gear at about 600hp. Sled pulling and drag racing it alot prior to failure. Gonna be easier on this rebuilt one.... for now.

Automatic swap is in the future.

Ain't that the truth! And muddin' and hotrodding around didn't help much either. I can't put my smarty higher than 3 without slipping like crazy, so last week I ordered my southbend 3250 DD clutch. Should be good when I get it installed. A side note, the levels on a Smarty are called CATCHER levels. CATCHER stands for: Clutch And Transmission CHallengER ......

There are a lot more g56 failures out there than who have posted up at this point. Maybe some more will chime in. It seems that many are at higher hp levels. Tac

Mine is still going strong, and it's been power shifted a few times with about 8k lbs in tow. I'm too lazy to lift off the throttle sometimes.
