G56 Failure
Unless there is more to the story………….
Righto.
There was a guy here a while back that was complaining about a toasted clutch @15K miles. He was upset becuase they wouldn't waranty the clutch itself (wear item)
"What, your not supposed to be using the skinny pedal and the clutch to take off?"
I've owned two '06 trucks with the G56. They were both very different transmissions. The first G56 was very notchy and stiff, but after a few thousand miles it smoothed out nicely. It pulled heavy everyday for over 23k miles. It did fine. I got another '06 with a G56, and it was very smooth from the beginning, it towed heavy everyday too. However, at about 1500 miles, it made some very loud squealing noises under acceleration, and while letting off the pedal. You could feel the vibration through the shifter. Sounded bad to me, like bearings perhaps. After that, 6th gear developed an increasingly loud and perceptible vibration and rattling noise. It continued to shift well though. I am at the same job, but don't pull trailers anymore, so I got yet another truck. This time a dually with an automatic.
A guy on the FordDiesel.com forum was whining about Ford not warranting a rod thru the block of his 6.0. Someone looked back thru his earlier posts and noticed that he had an aftermarket turbo, big swamp injectors, a box, a chip and was squirting both NOS and propane and he liked to street race……
