I have a feeling the Mods will come in and end this one, but I have found my new trans if this G56 ever does give it up. A Spicer 7 speed. It is awsome. I got to see the internals and then drive the class 7 truck it was in today. It was behind a B cummins to so I am sure I can make it work. Its a double countershaft design so no worries when hooked to the sled. I may call up my EATON rep and quiz him about their medium duty stuff!! If I can find something like that that will work, to heck with the G56 and NV5600!!!
Its nice having an engine that is so widely used because your options are endless with a little fab work and some bolt on parts!!

That would probably be almost impossible to mate that eaton to the B in a Dodge pickup.
The industrial b's have a huge trans adapter that sticks out about 6 inches and is way thicker than the dodge unit.
Then you have to deal with the size of the tranny itself.
I guess its ok to dream though!!

I fit a B into a 1948 Mack EG. An eaton medium duty trans in a dodge chassis is not a problem. The donor truck has the same frame width as the dodge. I would have to fab up a mount on the rear but that is easy for me!!!!!
The spicer is a little smaller and I think that would be the one I go with if I did. Remeber, were talking medium duty trans, not class 8. Big difference there!

The transfer case would get changed to a divorced NP205, a unit I have had very good luck with in my wheeling trucks, and as far as the dmax racing goes, if the G56 beats them on the sled, I know the Spicer will!!!!
Im telling you guys, im a fabricating fool. When it comes to some one off custom stuff I am on it
I will get some pics of the cummins sitting in the Mack with the dog house I had to build and the front and rear mounts and the cab modifications and the wiring harnesses I built. Looks better than factory.

Designing & Fabricating get's it done for me, too
On another thread, I've been threatening to extend a MegaCab's rear frame enough to accept a long bed... be pretty trick to get your big Spicer w/NP205 behind a de-emissioned 6.4 CTD inside.
Wonder what class it could sled-pull in...

i hate to bring up an old tread that seemed to have had so many people atacking each other, but has anyone had any other issues w/ the g56? they've been out for several years now. i've got over 100k on mine and i run the crap out if it and she still takes the abuse. granted, i have the DM flywheel still...just an upgrade clutch and i'm only running the power adder in my sig...but the dyno number dosen't show what power i am making (which isn't much compared to a lot of folks here). those numbers were w/ the muffler missing, and the torque tube gutted and other than that she was bone stock.

64,000 now, 25,000 of that is towing 5-6k single car trailers all over the SW and SE. Been there done that and ZERO problems with my G56. I say if you're having problems, change to a 3250DD and put a new valve body in while you're at it. Oh and don't forget the Trans Coolers.
