Fuel Question

Okay I know it is illegal to drive on public roads with High Sulfur Diesel. We call it "Farm Fuel" here in Alabama.

Is this stuff bad for the truck. I want to use the truck on my grandfathers farm and he is getting real old 87yo and needs my help. The problem is that he gets a tax break on the fuel in order to use it ONLY on the farm. I guess I wouldnt be breaking the law if I just used it on the farm while the fuel remained in the tank.

First off unless you are "ONLY" running on the farm, absolutly no on the road then it's legal to use., Other wise it's illegal and if caught fines are very steep. Not worth it from a financial standpoint. Use it in your farm equipment but not your truck. If it's been there any length of time it may have algee in it and other forms of contaminants and "could" cause more expensive problems than the small savings you might see if you were to use it.

Farm, Red, etc..diesel is as good or better then on road fuel from a quality stand point but now how it is stored and taken care of after delivery is another story our trucks and motors are very cheap incomparision to tractors combines and hay equipment along with dozers backhoes etc... now the law is "if its licensed" for on road use then its is against the law to run it in the vechicle even if for 3 months it does not leave the farm . And its not a good idea to run it in a 6.7 with the DPF ever.

Thankyou very much. Not worth the red in the tank. Thanks ... I will just pay the additional 20Cents/gal.
