Exclamation fuel pump 1 or 2

Hey Everyone,
I have been looking for an answer to the following problem:
My truck will not start, will turn over but will not start. I took the fuel filter cap off and there was about 1/2" of fuel in the canister. I had my son to try and start the truck while I looked at the canister. There was no fuel coming into the canister. I'm pretty sure that this means that the fuel pump is bad.
Also, I was told that there is more than one fuel pump. Is this true? Can someone please tell me if I should go ahead and look at purchasing a new fuel pump and which one would be the best one. I would also like to purchase a new set of injectors, does anybody have any recommendations?

can you hear the pump. check fuses first and if its junk get an airdog, fass, gdp or something look in the dtr store on the blue line on top of all the pages is the dtr store get a pump from there. as for injectors, flux's are the best

There is a lift pump to feed fuel from the tank to the CP3 hi pressure pump that feeds your injectors. If the canister is not filling it would be the lift pump. 03 has the lift pump mounted on the back of the fuel filter canister if it hasn't been changed to in-tank by the dealer through a TSB update. The 03 lift pump is poor at best.

The dealer may do the in-tank for you under warranty or there are lots of aftermarket units. Running 525 HP you probably want a good quality after market unit.

Just went through this

Like someone said, an easy way to check if the lift pump is bad is listening for it. You should hear a medium pitched whine coming from behind the fuel filter housing (I could hear mine while sitting behind the wheel before it crapped out) when you turn the key to "on".

As a back-up check, you can pull the power connector going to the lift pump (right behind the fuel filter cap) and put a test light on it. If there's juice when you turn the key to "on" then your pump is probably bad, a common problem on '03s. I've had the in-tank version now for a week and a half, it's doing its job so far.

Never heard of a related TSB, but yours is probably on it's way out. I smelled diesel coming from under the hood a couple of days before mine went. I'd order a spare if you're out of warranty.

So is $1500 what Dodge paid the dealer for a CP3, and we pay $3000 when they say you added mudflaps so your warranty is VOID?!?!?!

Helluva way to run a business. Help, we need more hand-outs!!

labor...2.60
parts...1155.00
shop supplies..2.60
tax...70.88
total...1488.48

not sure why there was a difference from the estimate and the final bill, the warranty guy had to come and inspect something..who knows that might be the reason why the difference? first time ive ever had a extended warranty . ahh just noticed Reman mopar pump was used..thats why. all i know is the truck is a treat to drive in a foot of snow
