fuel in oil, truck back in the shop

for those of you that fallowed the thread about my truck puking oil everywhere...here is an update.

picked up my truck last wednesday morning from dealer 40 miles away.
they installed a new injector pump, new turbo, and changed the oil and filter.

drove home, felt low on power, and i could smell some fuel..i thought that maybe it was some leftover fuel on the exhaust burning off or something. i got home and drove it for a little bit, and while at a stoplight the oil pressure gauge dropped to 0, and the check gauges light came on. so i got home, checked the oil, and it was 6 inches OVER the full mark. and upon inspetion i found deisel dripping from under the truck.

took it back to tthe dealer the that night and dropped it off, they called the next morning and said they were ordering a few new injectors, and some type of valve ( i still don't know what the valve is).
anyway, they just called and said the truck is fixed, and they have done two test drives, and all is well...... i guess when i see the repair ticket i can find out what the valve is.

I am way out of my league to even be commenting on this, but from what I have been reading . . .

The valve you refer to could be the "pop-off" relief valve. As I understand it, this valve relieves excess rail pressure by dumping fuel back into the tank. I have read here that some had been failing by dumping at too low a pressure and starving the fuel system (poor performance and lousy mileage - which I still don't understand if the fuel is returned to the tank).

But, that doesn't sound like it would cause fuel in the oil - or on the ground. Maybe if the valve isn't working at all, too high of a pressure might cause the symptoms you describe.

Someone who knows what they're talking about is welcome to chime in any time . . .

Good luck and keep us posted.

Neil

ccoughran,

I read your post a few weeks ago, but lost interest, because it became more on ethics than the real problem with the truck. What did they find out as far as cause and did a dealer finally cover the work uder warantee?

bhoeffner,

the original dealer did not honor the warranty, i found a new one that would without any problems.

originally the diagnosis was a leaking seal on the injector pump, which dumped fuel into the crankcase, which thinned the oil, and burned up the turbo, which causes my smoke, i was getting raw fuel/ oil pumped into the turbo.

replaced ip, oil filter, turbo, and i paid 100 dollar deduc.

the next day i went back to the dealer, the truck was burning way too much fuel, and leaking fuel/oil all over the underside of the truck.

now they replaced 2 injectors, and some valve ( the paperwork does not describe what the valve is, but it does give a part number) and all seems to be well. there was no charge on the second trip.

i have sold the edge box, as i am afraid that maybe the increase in pressure may have had something to do with this, not sure though.

and i had planned to leave the truck stock again, but it is horrible to drive stock.......so maybe i will get a tst, or the new edge....and GAUGES

Not trying to be a smart azz but what gauges are going to tell you there are some bad injectors in your motor

Seems to me he could of had gauges but it wouldn't have mattered I guess he could get a gauge that measures + / - crank case oil level !
