Fuel mileage report for my 2004.5 Cummins

I actually had a truck identical to mine but it was made in Jan. It's mileage was bad and had the misfire/white smoke problem. The dealer order me another truck!
Very cool of them by the way!
There was a difference between the trucks and even after all the correct TSB reflashes I doubt the mileage would be equal between the two...

Yes, I bought it used. From what I've read the reflash helps a lot if you're getting low mileage. I don't know if mine got the reflash, but I'm leaving it alone cause it runs great.

I'am not saying anyone is fudging their numbers, it's just that out of all the trucks I know no one is making the big numbers some claim on here.
Maybe it's like the old timers use to tell me when I was younger and complaining about having to ride the bus to go to school. They use to walk to school and back uphill both ways and the wind always blowing in their faces.

Hah! No tall tails or fudge here buddy. My numbers are what they are. Hand calculated and correct. Take them for what they are and how you want too. But they are right.
I gotcha all beat. Even the good friend of a friend of a friend. 99 MPG here. Reset overhead rolling downhill on interstate 70 MPH in neutral. It is what it is. Gotta be. The overhead doesn't lie!

Now all joking aside. Try not resetting the overhead for say two or three thousand miles and then see how many are getting 20-22 MPG. Long term I get 17-18 tops.

Guys/Gals, when we talk about MPG we should talk in about the rear end ratio at the same time.
With a 4.10 and milage flash I get.
City ~ 17.5 MPG
Hyw ~ 19-20 MPG at 62 MPH
Tow ~ 10-11 MPG mountains at 50-60 MPH - 14,000 LBS 5er
Tow ~ 11-12 MPG low hills and flats at 60-70 MPH 14,000 LBS 5er
When I put in fuel additive I gain about one MPG. When towing or high speed non towing the increased MPG is not noticable.

I now have 6,600 miles and best tank is 19.6 MPG and the worst is 15.7 MPG. Typically it ranges from 17.5-18.0 MPG. This includes highway driving at 70 MPH.
2500 4x4 auto long bed. Everything stock except the tires, upsized to 275.

Fuel economy
I wish I got that good. Mine is an 05 but it is early I think Jan. build date. I get 16.5 17 at 65 on summer fuel. 14-15 on winter fuel. I would guess that some of it is hills and some of it is elevation. I have an alum cab high topper on it most of the time probably lighter than the 400 lbs stated. I sure wish that I could get the 20 mpg. It is ironical that I traded an SO 2003 for this one. I do trust the 48RE more than the 47RE, and like the 600 when I hook some thing up to the towbar, but cuss it every time I fill it. My buddys dura crap is cheaper to drive. I tell him it will all even out as soon as he gets into the purchase of the front end parts he will need at about 40,000 miles.
