Fuel leak
Driving down the high way on my home from work I started to smell diesel. Next thing I know there's a mist coming from under my hood. So I head for the exit and stop and shut it down. By the time I get the hood up theres puddle forming and running back passed the door.
Had someone crank it over for me. The fuel line between the #4 injector and the fuel rail was leaking at the injector. It was not loose but I was able to get it to move. I have not done any work on the engine. However, the clamp was loose.
Well, talk about braking down in the right place. Across the high way is a Cummins parts house. Not only were they open, but they had 1 line in stock!
Heck, I even got a ride back to my truck from the parts guy.
Just so you know, the new line has been redesigned. It has a clamp already on the line to replace the one on the engine.
IDK but I think the loose clamp might have caused the line to fail.
You might want to check your fuel line clamps to make sure they're not loose!

Man, you lucked out!
That is a common problem, the #4 line failing on the 06s. I have isolators on my injector lines, I guess they didn't put them on the newer trucks.
I do have to tighten my isolators from time to time, thought. I hear the pulse tick when they loosen up.
