Fuel filter help

Just wanting to know what the highest efficiency drop in filter to fit in the stock location is. I have been using the standard filter since my truck has been new and changed it regularly with no problems but with so many people having injector problems I think I may start using something better. Whats the part # and where do you get them. Thanks!!!!

Baldwin PF 7977 ... 5 micron absolute at 98% efficiency. Here is the Baldwin link in order to locate a supplier near you.

Well I don't want to upset the apple cart here, but I just talked to Baldwin yesterday.

The technical engineer I spoke with said the 7977 used to be rated at 2 microns, but now is 5 microns single pass. I asked about the 2 micron Cat filter and he scoffed and said there isn't one. Since the standard for testing has changed, all 2 micron filters are 4-5 micron filters now.

Then I asked him about the Cummins / Fleetguard FS19856 which is rated at 7 microns and uses the stratopore material.

The Baldwin engineer said the FS19856 was a great filter, and probably would pass the 5 micron test. Then he went into a long lesson about fibers and testing methods and how they have changed and why 2 microns is now 5 and flow rates and number of passes and on and on and on.

In the end I came away with this:

Cummins is warranteeing my engine. If it has a problem with a Cummins FS19856 filter on it, they won't batt an eye at it.

If it has a Baldwin PF7977 on it when an injector goes, I will have to ask Baldwin for the money.

And in the end, when I asked the engineer from Baldwin which was the best filter for my Cummins with Bosch injectors (this was the design engineer, not tech support --- I was passed off to this guy because I specifically asked about multi-pass versus single pass testing) anyway, when I asked which one would give me the BEST filtration, he said it was a toss up, and either one would be excellent.

I'm going with the Cummins filters. I can get them for $16 locally.
