It is really easy. For the '06, if you are standing in the front of the truck looking at the engine, the fuel filter is to the right of the motor. High level - When I have changed the filter, I drain the canister (yellow ****/lever), unscrew the top, pull the filter (making sure the rubber ring does not fall off into the canister), replace filter and o-ring, fill with some diesel, screw top back on, turn the engine over quickly (but do not start) to get the fuel pump going for a bit, then start the engine. I think there were some procedures in the owners manual also. Hopefully that helps.

Try this, in the FAQ section:
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...n&onlynewfaq=1

Note: in step 10, It took me ~5-6 key turns to start.

good instructions

Those are the best instructions. I had never changed my fuel filter before either. It was pretty easy with these instructions. I bought a special socket for the nut on the top of the filter. Put a longer hose on the drain valve, so diesel fuel dosn't go everywhere.
I printed these out and keep them in the tool box with a new fuel filter and my lucky socket, in the truck at all times

When changed When ready to start eng turn key to start do not crank eng turn off turn on do this three times slow this will let the fuel pump fill up your filter. there might be a little air in the filter truck might miss a little so give it a little fuel that way it will run OK ---GOOD LUCK

Those are good instructions, other than it looks like you should include drinking what's in the bottle, although it might not taste too good. Looks li9ke it's going to be a little bit simpler than what the 99 took.

If your fuel filter cap is a plastic one that came on it.You might look at the cap that GENO"S has it is a polished metal cap $59.00 also it is drilled and tapped and plugged will accept a 1/8 NPT pressure sending unit.
