well call me an idiot or what ever but idon't know where fuel filter is on these trucks and can I get it from napa?

I was gonna offer to take a pic with my phone and send it to ya but it looks like you found it.

I order mine from genos. There may be cheaper places but I like to run the fleetguard filters and they show up at my door. I have also run wix wich I think are good filters too.

BTW you might as well order two and keep one in your toolbox.

I buy mine from a local Cummins Northeast repair center as that was the best price I had found and I can pick them up when needed.

 

Funny you posted this, just changed mine on my '06 today. I bought the dc service manual and it told how pretty well. Just be sure to drain the filter housing before you do it with the sweet drain they provide. Put a 7 micron fleet guard on it. Does anyone know if this is what comes originally. I bought mine used and was wondering if it was ever changed.

 

The 7 microns have flat plastic end caps and the 10 Micron filters that came on them were more of a rounded rubber/plastic ends.

 

Bluechrome, since you have an 06 dont get the one from napa it's not a 7 micron. The last time I was in there they only carried the 10 micron. He had a part# for the 7 micron but said they weren't available yet. This was about 2 months ago, maybe they have them now. Geno's is great or Scheid Diesel is also good(and a wee bit cheaper).

Do you have to drain the fuel? I change mine every oil change and I never drain mine?
