Frustrated Cummins Owner PLEASE HELP!
Frustrated Cummins Owner PLEASE HELP!
I have a 2006 Ram 3500 5.9l with a edge/juice. Lately I keep getting a code P0243. Also at times the truck starts hen shus down after 5 secs. and the security light blinks. This goes on and on unless I lock the doors unlock he doors over and over then finally it works. I guess my first question how can I make this code go away? Where can I buy a Wastegate Solenoid if indeed that is he problem. Also what is a good wastegate to get if I replace that also. BD Wastegate, Banks? Where to buy and should I buy. The mechanics only resource is Dodge is there another source? By the way the mechanic does not work for Dodge dealership so I am skeptical. Second question the engine security code what is going on with that. Thanks alot for your help.
my '06 charger was doing almost the same exact thing and it turned out to be a bad key. That is why the security light was flashing after it shut off. I would start using the other key and see if it stops happening.

the sentry module is not recognizing the key. it will have to be reprogrammed.
food for thought for everyone. NEVER set your keys next to the de-magnatizing machine at like home depot or similar. we have seen it many times it kills the memory of the key and the rig will not start.
as for the p0243-
Case Number K46965697
Vehicle Issue MIL. P0243. Low power.;No other fault codes are logged. Inspect the Wastegate Control Valve (actuator) wires for chafing against the battery ground cable. The insulation on the wire(s) may have rubbed through allowing the copper to corrode. In some cases the wire may have broken off at the actuator.
System or Component Lack of Power / Sluggish;DTC / Error Message;Turbocharger,Group 18 - Vehicle Performance / Driveability
Recommendation Replace the Wastegate Control Valve.

make sure when you take it in for re-programming, you bring ALL keys you own. if you leave 1 at home, it will not work after the reprogramming. there are batteries but they ONLY operate the keyless entry. the battery has nothing to do with the SENTRY module and it recognizing the key

I would pull the Edge and see if that helps. I had a tow chip in mine for a while when I first got it, engine started crappy so I pulled it and it ran fine. Sent it back to the company and they said they fixed it. After three times back to the company and it kept doing the same thing I got mad and threw it away.
