Could someone give me an idea how the clips that hold the front brake caliper in place come off? I am trying to replace my front pads today and cannot figure out how they come off. I have the 2 bolts out but there appears to be a clip top and bottom holding it in place. Thanks

Which bolts did you remove? The larger ones that hold the whole assembly on stay in place and the smaller ones that only hold the pad and piston assembly are the ones to remove. It doesn't look like the right way at first. Then pull out the pad/piston bracket piece and the pads will tilt over and fall out. The little stainless clips look almost the same but are not so be careful when replacing them with the new ones. It doesn't look like it will work at first, but it does. Be careful not to drop the piece and have it yank on the brake line. You can set it on a box or something while working on it. A large C clamp or channel lock will push the pistons back, and make sure you push them ALL the way. Loosen the master cylinder cap and put a rag under it to catch any extra fluid.

Wetspirit, I just got it. The pistons were stuck to the pad. Once I got them broke apart it came right out. Thanks for your help.

I'm sorry, I can't remember any more detail than that. It seems you just remove the smaller bolts then pry the piece off the rotor and bracket. Moving it toward the rear of the truck. Can't remember. Try prying at different points to tilt out the top first or the bottom first. I do remember some resistance as the pads slid over the rusty outer edge of the rotor.
