Front Axle info??

The Dodge site lists the ring gear diameter on the front axle on the '03 4x4's as 9.26". So they went to a smaller axle than the Dana 60?? How does ujoint size and shaft size compare? Are the new front axles made by the same mfr. as the new 11.5 rears? Thanks.
Chris
I dont know any specs on the new axles. However, I do know that Dodge dropped the Dana's and are now using American Axle Corp. axles.

What the differences are, and any inter-changebilities, I do not know.

Sorry I couldnt give any more info.

Rich.

Re:Front Axle info??

Thanks for the info. Doesn't seem to make sense that Dodge would put in a weaker front axle when increasing their engine outputs. Stopped at a dealer at lunch time and saw a couple 2500 Hemi's (no 03 CTD's). The front axle is definitely not a Dana 60 - can't really tell on ujoints without having a D60 1480 joint in hand for comparison. And the salesmen were useless :.
Chris
