Found in trans pan: what is it?

Hey all, just dropped my 48RE pan to replace the transducer and solenoid and found this in the bottom of the pan. Not being too familiar with the innards of an auto trans I have no idea what it is. Any help? Thanks!,

That's an anchor that goes between an adjusting screw and a band.

Awesome, THANKS! So I can just put it back in place? Is it common for them to come loose or is it indicative of a problem?

Yeah, after I dropped the valve body the rest of the pieces of the broken front band fell out. Time to pull it and get it rebuilt.

I figured something major happened to the band. Broken spot welds on anchor points or broken band?

Yeah, but just got to look at it as an opportunity to upgrade.
