Found the cause of the loud exhaust

Over the past few weeks i have noticed the drone on my truck at idle was getting louder. Well my wife has been using the truck the past few days at a horse show and yesterday the site was very muddy due to the rain we had. Well the truck came home yesterday covered in mud. She left ealry today with it so tonight I was washing it and saw the tailpipe move whe i hit it with water. Well the pipe broke off right at the muffler. Of course it was the wifes fault, right. Well anyway what are you going to do. I pulled the tail section off and I checke the rest out tomorrow. My question is where can I get the pieces of the exhaust?? I was also wondering if there is a muffle out there that will cut down on the drone sound at highway speeds? Thanks BART

Maybe time for an aftermarket exhaust... Seems the price of an aftermarket is normally less than trying to get a stock replacement. Most will come with new mufflers which do a good job of cutting down on drone. MBRP, Diamond Eye, just to name a few of the companies out there... Can you get away with just a Cat back? it would save some money, if that is a concern?

Also, make sure you don't throw out those rubber gaskets that hold the exhaust in place, and if you decide to do a complete Turbo back exhaust it may be worth your time to keep the cat, as they are expensive and required to be installed by law...

It came with one, it looks like a flare in the pipe, flattens out, then tapers back to 4''.

03 and early 04 models did not come with a cat in the exhaust system. Anything after that did.

If you have an 03-04 aftermarket exhaust would be useful, particularly a full 4 inch turbo back to replace that 3.5" downpipe. But if you just want a muffler, look at the donaldson or nelson mufflers. One of them should do the trick.
