I was pulling a goose neck yesterday and had the rear window open and at half throttle I notticed it felt like it kinda missed and had some popping noise out the exhaust. It did it in 4th and 5th at @30-35psi kinda lugging but not bad. There was very little haze out the stack so the fuel is burning, and if I run the rpms higher it ran fine.

Is it my timing too high or what?

 

I dont know if this helps but pulling my trailer i left the ksb on oops it popped at low rpm my timming is to the head .

Really, there is no surge ever though. Just that popping at lower rpm power. I'll drop it back some I guess and see what it does. Will lowering the timing a little drop off any economy?

 

Probably not. If you advance it too far it will hurt mileage too...
