Flushing the radiator
Flushing the radiator
Can anybody give me any advice on flushing the radiators in our trucks?
How often? Any particular product?
My truck is an 04.5 that I purchased at the end of July 04. 38,000 miles.
Should I be doing something around the 2 year mark? Also, what do you recommend for replacing hoses and the serpentine belt? I have had no problems, that I am aware, with any of them. Thanks.

I've flushed mine once in 96k miles. If you do it, I recommend that you go and buy the thermostat from dodge. It's going to cost a pretty penny but it's worth it. I bought one from o'reilly's and it didn't open up until 220* and then it'd drop and climb right back up. Put one in from dodge and it won't go over 190* now.
When I flush the cars I just use new coolant mixed 50/50 with water, drain it, and add new coolant mixed 50/50 with water. Target has Prestone extended life stuff for about $6 a gallon, and distilled water is less than $1 a gallon. I planned on doing the same in the truck, using the correct coolant (zerex g05 or something).
