Back on subject - sort of. I just bought what I thought was a 7 micron filter from the Cummins service center in Catoosa, OK, but after checking my reciept I realized it had Geno's part # for the 10 micron. I took it back today to exchange it. Both filters are wrapped in plastic and look the same to me but the 7 micron (or what I believe to be the 7 micron) had "800" written in red letters on the plastic and was about 60 cents cheaper. The parts guy there was pretty certain I was now getting the 7 micron. I'm guessing the "800" is referring to Geno's part # FS19800E (I know this is Fleetguard's # but I'm refering to Geno's for reference to the original post). Any help would be appreciated.

I just recieved 3 filters from Geno's. I specified the 7 micron at the time of order, and it is PN FS19800 (as per the top of the filter).

Thanks Packard8 but I'm still confused visually. The first post in this thread said the 7 micron is thicker on the ends and has different indentations. The indentations look the same to me on Geno's and on the ones I had. However, the thicknesses of the end caps do appear different, but on Geno's the 7 micron looks thinner, not thicker, as the first post implies. My new filter (that has "800" written on the plastic wrapping) has the thinner end caps so I'm feeling a little more confident that I have the proper filter.

red47,

I just got (4) 7 micron filters from Geno's, part #FS19800E. This part number is engraved in the plastic on one end cap of each filter. On the end cab with the hole I see this:

PATENTS #5, 753, 117
FS19800E
MADE IN U.S.A.
0615611090554

The other end cap is flat and has no markings.

I dont have an orginal filter to compare to, but the filter media itself looks a little "sparkly" in a good light with what looks like fine strands of some synthetic material running across / through it. I don't remember the originals having that quality, although I suspect it just may be the lighting.

Sorry for the confusion....the 10 Micron filters have the thicker end caps......and the indentation......I wrote it wrong....

You can go to Geno's garage to see a pic of the new 7 micron filter. I don't know if the end cab is really thicker on the older filter but it does have a lip that comes up over the filter material a little whereas the new filter is simply flat allowing the filter material to be fully exposed all the way.

I'm guessing your filter was pretty black and nasty looking right? Guess what that black junk is? It is not dirt, but a substance called asphaltene. A naturally occuring component of diesel fuel. What really is the kicker with my fass filters especially the 3 micron hf6604, when I changed my stocker fs19800e 7 micron it was clean as the day I installed it six months previous
