Finally got my first diesel truck!

Monday I picked up my first diesel pickup. I think my sig says what I have. It is a great truck.

I've always wanted a Cummins pickup since I used to drive a couple big trucks with 400hp cummins back in the mid 90's at my old construction job.

I bought it out of town, had to drive home about 90 miles. When I got the RPM's up around 2000, it was making this awful whistle / moaning noise. It sounded like there was a clamp loose some where. I also noticed it seemed down on power compared to one I drove on a lot a couple months ago.

When I got home, I was pleasantly surprised and found a clamp on the intercooler that was loose. It was the clamp on the tube up to the intake, so it was losing boost out this loose clamp. When I tightened it up and went back for a drive, no moaning or whistling and it has TONS of power now!

welcome to the group. Even fixes problems without a trip to the dealer.
I see lots of mods in the near future.

I am a first time diesel owner as well, I just bought my 04.5 in my sig in July.. I was originally looking for a 7.3 PSD but I did not want to go back on years of vehicle and get a truck with 100,000 miles.. For Some reason people around here think PSD's are like the Hope Diamond or something and I am a ford Guy at heart, but I wanted what was the best at the time.. You see my choice.. I have no regrets..My buddy with a 02 7.3 PSD likes mine better than his as well, he is looking to trade once he gets out of the State Police Academy

I agree. Every time I have tried to buy a PSD they seem to think they are diamands.

and by what I mean is every time is when I am changing vehicles and I look at them all. The ford dealers are crazy.

I have always been able to buy a fully optioned Dodge CTD for less than a Striped Furd Power Choke Diesel.

just my experience, your mileage may vary.

Hey congratulations,

I got my first diesel this year as well and am now fully converted. I also made a lot of my decision to go dodge based on this site. Ohh and love the megacab room.
