FCA Info - long crank problem 2004.5 2500.

I did a search, here's the deal with my 2004.5 cummins diesel:
I have very long crank times and dealer can't figure it out. Replaced lift pump, inline fuel pump, ECM, crankshaft and camshaft position sensors, new fuel filter and air filter. It's been happening for about 6 months now. The pattern is it only happens when (a) the engine has been running and fully warmed up, (b) when I go to start it shortly after I shut it down - at least 20 minutes after last shutdown, (c) ambient temps are above 70*. My last remaining dealer in the area won't diagnose anything unless they can put the equipment on the truck when the problem is happening. As it's not predictable, they were only able to reproduce the problem once but couldn't test anything. I am in denial over injectors, primarily due to the cost, so am willing to replace other electronic components to see if that's the problem. I think my next step is replace the FCA. My Dodge OEM service manual says that this is not a serviceable part, but I am reading that people have replaced them. Can someone tell me where I can get one? I've searched online and can't seem to find one. Installation and removal seem straightforward, especially compared to the camshaft sensor. Truck runs fine otherwise. No codes or check engine light. Thanks in advance.

If it is not happening all the time just every now and then, run it. I have had it happen to me a couple of times. I just go for a good pull. Seems it's a carbon on the injector tip issue. FCA's don't normally cause this issue. If it was a major problem, you would know it by now.

try a flow test on the injectors that way you can rule them out

Removing the FCA is easy. If you need info on it, I have a thread with some pics somewhere. I'll look for it.

You can get an FCA upgrade kit for under 500 bucks, or maybe you can borrow someone's stocker that has already done the kit to test yours...

Thanks everyone for the responses. Found an FCA at Geno's garage online. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and have the injectors tested. I just need to find a good local diesel shop that will do it reliably and not break the bank. Anyone know of one in the San Jose, East Bay or SF Bay Area? My excellent Dodge dealer went bankrupt and I'm not thrilled with the replacement dealer I go to now. Thanks.
