Broken fan blade or bearing is going.

Things happen! Have you even looked at it yet? If blades are bent/broken, I suggest replace all components of fan. They do come apart and go through radiator. Bearing test is move blade fore and aft for excess movement. 3/8 inch movement is probablly too much.

When my fan is running at an idle I can see that it has some play from front to back. It seems that bearings might be the cause of my issue as well. I have not attempted to estimate the total range of motion it makes. I was about to post a thread about my issues. I'll have to look into it more thoroughly. Only 50,000 miles seems funny that the bearings would be bad already.

When running your fan may wobble a little when disengaged. It's normal. Turn the truck off and grab a blade with your hand. If a bearing is going there will be a noticable loosness.

there is no play if you wiggle it back and forth.... i take it the fan should spin freely when the truck is off?

Acutally No, it dosen't spin real free, if it does the fan clutch is bad.

Edited: If you spin the fan it should not make one revolution.
