115k miles and the fan clutch is seized tight. So fan roars all the time. Question is.... upgrade to an electric fan system... or replace with stock stuff.

 

I had my fan clutch crap too but it was no lockup and would over heat. I was told by a couple places if you tow stay with the factory clutch assembly because the electric fans don't move enough air and you will over heat when towing.

did you by chance get any codes relating to the fan before it seized. I live with an P0483 fan speed code, wondering if it is a fan clutch problem that could land me in your shoes soon...

not sure about the install but i think on 03+ fan assembly is a left hand thread...

 

P0483 Is Also In Mine All The Time???? When Running Plow Most Of The Time.

 

I wonder if that P0483 could indicate the fan clutch is staring to slip, throwing off the fan speed to give the code. My cp3 was leaking some fuel onto the wiring harness directly underneath and it looks like it might be for the fan so i cleaned it but no change.
