fan clutch

well i had my fan clutch wire harness tear in half, i rewired it and i started looking a little more at the fan, so i put a piece of tape on a fin and spun the fan.it went around 5 times, pretty easy. i called autozone here and they gave me a part number 922842 and it was 135.00, i asked if it had the harness on it,no it dont, i asked if i could use it without it,the answer no again, well my question is can you use the fan clutch w/o the harness?

The electronic fan clutch is controled by the ECM which turns fan clutch on or off when high engine temps require more cooling. Mechanical fan clutch uses a mechanical thermal sensor to lock or unlock fan clutch. The fan mounting to clutch is different and will not work. Without the wiring the clutch will not lock fan clutch to cool down engine coolant during heavy engine load conditions causing overheating of engine.
