hello guys maybe you can help me. I just had the shop replace my serptine belt and now it makes a noise when i shut it down. i just had the old one replaced because it looked old. (maintance)

any ideas

They all do the 'chirp' on shut down, that is normal. The engine basically 'stops', while the fan, water pump, and other componants, try to coast to a stop. Some guys have replaced the belt, using a Goodyear Gatorback belt, and the chirp stopped. Personally, it doesn't bother me enough to spend the money right now. When the time comes to change the belt, then I will spend the extra money.

 

There is a TSP from dodge for a alternator pully with a clutch built in, I had that put on my truck before my warranty ran out, but you would probably have to pay to get one, its like about 150.00 so in your case probably not worth that much.

 

It's Torque Chirp and perfectly normal. I start to worry when mine doesn't do it....
