Extended Warranty Sux!!!

When I bought the truck last year I got the warranty because of the automatic tranny and having 132,000 miles.

So last Fri. I took the family and TT up to New Braunfels for a long weekend. Everything was going great until Mon. we were driving into town for breakfast (W/O the TT), and as we were slowing down for a light the rear end locked up and bounced 4 or 5 times. Pulled into the corner gas station to look and didn't see anything wrong. Back down the road again and a few miles later the truck won't shift at all. the only gears I have are 1st and R.
So We limped along at 15mph for about 3 miles to the local Dodge house to have them take a look. Thankfully it was going to be an easy fix. They dropped the pan and all looked good no metal shavings. They said the tranny looked like it had been rebuilt recently. It only needed a new governor solenoid and pressure transducer.

Now as the title said This Warranty Sux, because they wouldn't cover the repair. They said this was an electrical issue not a transmission failure. Now I'm out $675. Would have made out better if the tranny would have scattered.

But now I know the condition of my tranny is OK for now and I have just gotten a new filter and fresh fluid. Good as new (sarcasm by the way).
Pulled the TT home just fine yesterday.

I am going through the same thing. I bought the extended warranty and they were so fast to take my 3,000 cash and come to find out I have a $250 deductible the first time and $25 after that. Insurance is BS! My front end was making noise, so I took it in, a trusted shop told me the ball joints and bearings are shot. He called the insurance and the \y are sending a guy out tomorrow to see if they will fix it. All is covered mind you, but I might have to come up with the extra costs if it goes over their expected costs as well as the 250 deductible. What a rip off, I want the shop too put in better quality items so this does not happen down the road when the warranty expires in 3 years. I am taking it in for the littlest things from now on. I will get my money out of those blood suckers. Sorry to hear it was a job you could have done in your garage. I just replaced mine with a heavy duty solenoid and sensor, and also put in a drain plug as well as baldwin filter. I am hoping the next change will be less messy and easier. I am hoping my injectors go out on this warranty as well as the tranny so I take these people too the bank. My ext warranty covers everything, including electronics. So I plan on using that to the fullest!
BTW glad to hear you are back home safe and up and running.

Thanks,
My warranty is a power train only and I do not have to meet any deductibles. I have a 3yr/36k mile and have 2yrs and 16k left. looks like I will hit the miles before the years.

Since the rebuild is fairly new I will be looking into a shift kit and some billet upgrade parts. Definitely a drain plug. Maybe next year a billet TC.

Your warranty is not from Dodge, right? It's a private company. I NEVER get those. That's the only thing you can get on a vehicle that's out of factory warranty. You'll always be better off banking that cash and holding it in case something happens. If you ever sit down and fully read those contracts, hardly anything will be covered.

not to be a stick in the mud and make people mad but it comes down to reading what you are buying. EVERY extended warranty contract has a list of items it covers and does not cover. the majority of the people that buy them never read the contract and when it comes time to use it, freak out and blame the warranty company. they are actually cut and dry as to what they cover. I have to deal with them every day. some are good to deal with and others I would like to drive to their facility and start beating heads.

the level of coverage on your truck is not all that good because it has so many miles on it and they already know its going to break (the odds are increased to do miles) so you REALLY have to pay attention to what IS and whats NOT covered.

Being away from home and not having my tool box I didn't know what had failed on the tranny. So I had to rely on a shop.
The warranty quotes,
Automatic Transmission Internal transmission parts consisting of: Gears, input and output shafts, bearings, front pump, planetary assemblies, transmission case, overdrive carrier, reaction carrier, center support, parking lock actuator, stator and stator shaft, separator plate, pressure regulator valve, dipstick and filler tube, sprags, governor assembly, valve body, and torque converter.

Question, aren't the governor solenoid and pressure transducer part of the governor assembly? I have been a maintenance manager for 16 years and thats where I would expect to find them.

Just got a call from the warranty company and the guy the dealership talked to messed up. Long story short, this IS covered and they are going to cut me a check.

Sweet. I'd be curious to know what the overall cost of your warranty was, and once it has ran it's course, was it worth it?

Sorry to hear of the warrenty issues, but how was the river? We are supposed to be there in 2 weeks, and I was wondering how the tubeing was.

It wasn't flowing as fast as i've seen it in years past, but it was ice cold and very crowded. Loved it and so did the kids. That was the Horseshoe, we didn't do the Comal this year.

my extended has paid for everything and there has been alot, 2 years left just need to blow the tranny now.

I think some shops are better then others and getting stuff takin care of without the bs.

i know my truck is only going where i bought it from after a bad experience with another shop.
