Exhaust smell

The exhaust on my 06 Mega Cab CTD smells like a landfill. Will it start to smell more like a diesel after the engine and catalytic converter are broken in ?

It will always smell like elmers glue until you yank your cat out. The second I started my truck without the cat, that sweet, sweet diesel smell that I was missing filled the air around the truck.
