exhaust rocker arm stuck to crosshead valve?

when i was pulling the exhaust rocker arms to get remove injectors came to #4 and the crosshead valve( the bridge that allows one rocker to operate two valves) was stuck to the socket on the rocker arm. Anyone ever see this before? I was able to pull them apart but they were surprisingly stuck together, seemed like more than just stiction from the oil. neither surface on socket or crosshead seemed marred or anything. weird!

and anyone ever noticed the little raised bump on one side of the crosshead valve? is it supposed to go a certain way?

Thanks!

I usually put the little bump towards the intake side of the engine.

thanks RP. Anyone on the stuck crosshead issue? if it stuck and the crosshead didn't go back down over the alignment pins it seems like very bad things could happen!

ok i'll get some pictures so people can understand what i'm talking about. to put it another way, if you have ever adjusted your valves, imagine that you get to number 4 and there is no gap to check because that crosshead piece is stuck to the rocker arm! so any ideas on a possible cause? if the adjustment was out and the gap was very small could it have cause prolonged contact that fused the two together? everything look ok but i'm very nervous about putting it back together without knowing what caused this.

no signs of scoring and everything else had plenty of oil. there didn't appear to be any oil on the surfaces that were stuck though. that is the question how can that happen? should replace that rocker arm and crosshead?

well to answer my own question here you go: rocker arm socket was cracked and i believe this caused the oil to be pushed out the crack and not through the lube port in the socket like its supposed to in order to keep oil between the crosshead and socket. Name: IMG_7967.jpg
