exhaust manifold turbo bolts

I've been trying for hours to get the nuts out that hold the turbo on. I've just spent $60 on another wrench and a specialty socket. How in the heck do you get them off?

I usually soak the bolts/nuts with liquid wrench or wd40 for a couple of days beforehand and they usually come off without too much heartache.

I couldn't get anything but a wrench on it. They finally broke loose with a wrench on the top two and the half inch impact on the bottom two. My gauges certainly took a lot longer than the 3 hours stated on the instructions.

Did I miss something here? If you are just putting gauges on, why did you have the turbo off?

You don't HAVE to, but some people prefer to drop the turbo a bit and put a piece of cardboard or something between the turbo and the manifold to prevent shavings from falling in there.

Oh, I got you. I never did that with mine. Too time consuming and not necessary as I guess was realized here. I thought he put a bigger turbo on or something.
