Exhaust Manifold Temp Question

I'm still groping at threads to minimize my chance for error in trying to figure out which injector(s) on my '03 are bad. I have 1 brand new injector and I want to stick it in, but I want to feel like I'm replacing a bad one. I do not have the fittings necessary to isolate 1 injector at a time. I do know I have excessive return fuel flow from the return path coming from the head (1 or more injectors returning too much fuel). #1 sounds much different than the others noise-wise. I'm wondering if I take an infrared temperature device and compare the exhaust manifold port temps at all 6 cylinders, would the injector bypassing the most fuel show a loewr temperature than the others.....????? Whatta ya'll think ?

Thanks.....................curtis

You could try the crayon test. Mark each exhaust runner with crayon and start the engine, the one that doesn't melt or takes the longest is most likely the problem.

Good point.........I'd also save $50. BTW Mikey, I really am gonna get inside her tomorrow......I'm off every other Friday and I've just about had it! If nothing else, I'll pull all 6 and send them to DonM and have a good excuse for ridin' the Harley to work next week!

This is a perfect excuse, err, opportunity to upgrade those injectors...

in the long run... 6 don't really cost that much more than 1 does.
