Everyone read this,,,you may have a shorted wire!!
Tell me,were you driving down the hiway at 70 mph and your truck felt like it was trying to shift down. Mine did that yesterday for a couple of minutes and the ran fine and the check engine light came on and is still on.
re: Everyone read this,,,you may have a shorted wire!!
This past weekend, my husband was driving up a steep hill with 2 passengers and a few mountain bikes -- not a heavy load -- and the truck shut-off. He was able to get it restarted and hasn't had any problems since. There were no engine codes so it's a mystery to us what happened. After reading this thread, it seems logical that there might be some wires chaffed somewhere. He'll go home and inspect all wires.
Of course, this has only happened once, which is why we're suspecting something electrical. Does anyone have any input advise on what the culprit might be?
Thanks!

Yeap, it is the LP. Pump is covered under engine warranty. 7yrs/100,000miles. 100 dollar deductable only on years 6 & 7.
I'm going to check mine today. Since the middle of the summer I've been having an intermittent problem with a sudden and complete, but only momentary loss of power. It doesn't throw a code and two good mechanics have been unable to diagnose the problem. This just might be it.
It was difficult to confirm whether the wire had been chafing or not. I went ahead an put some plastic loom on it as a precaution. If my problem doesn't reoccur I guess I'll assume that was the cause.

Hello
I could really use some advice. I think I may be having this same problem. I have a 2004 with a 48RE engine is bone stock. My problem comes and goes at random. It will cut out or kind of hic-up for lack of a better term. The truck bucks pretty good When this happens going up a grade but is not as severe going down hill or coasting. It feels kind of like turning the ignition off and then on again before the engine dies. I have had the truck to two different dealerships and one independent shop and gotten three different opinions. The first dealership said there was a code for the cam sensor and they replaced the sensor and said the truck was fixed but when I went to get the truck the problem was worse than before. Then they decided they wanted to replace the cam but it didn't make any sense to me that it would be worse by replacing the sensor and I didn't really trust them at this point to tear into the engine so I went to another dealer for a second opinion. The second dealer said there was a TSB for faulty signals from the cam sensor and re flashed the ECM but that didn't help so they put in another sensor and the problem seemed to go away. The truck seemed fine for about two weeks but then started doing the same thing so I took the truck back. This time they decided it was an electrical issue but they could not(would not) pinpoint it and wanted to replace the entire wiring harness at a cost to me of about $1300.00 . It was obvious they were just guessing so I told them to go ahead and replace the harness but not to do any other work to the truck and if it didn't take care of the problem surely they wouldn't bill me for it to witch they stammered and him hawed around with the bottom line being that they would indeed charge me. I have a road trip planed and need this fixed what ever the cost but can't afford to have them through parts at it at my expense so I took it to an independent shop with a good reputation for honesty. They were only able to get it to reproduce a couple of times and told me they just had no Idea what it was for sure but thought maybe a transmission issue? I think the transmission idea is out because it is so random it happens when the truck is cold on flat ground at 30 MPH or hot and under a load on a steep grade at 70 MPH and then it might not happen at all for weeks at a time.
Does this sound like the same thing some of you were experienceing?
If not any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
I tried to look at the wires near the AC unit but my eyes aint so good any more and I can't for the life of me get the two connectors apart to lower the wire down where I can see it. I pulled out the red tabs on the connectors but they wont budge. Can anybody tell me how to get these things apart?

No need to do that. Under the oil filter you'll see some wires. If you get under the truck you can see them better.
Look for a small harness passing across the Air Cond. line.
Hope this helps.
Thanks Blackpuff Gone
I did look at them from under the truck but cant see them well enough with my darn eyes with out being able to get a little closer. I could just put some loom over them but then I would not know for sure if that was the problem and it looks like they would be easier to work on if they were disconnected.
Any trick to getting them apart? feels like I'm going to break them if I pull any harder

The truck runs fine other than cutting out.
One thing I forgot to add is that when it is acting up it seems to do it every few minutes for the entire trip then the next day under the same conditions maybe not at all for a week
