Error code

Ok guys I have a little problem. My truck seems to run find and have no problem but I decided for the hell of it to see if my truck had any codes in it. Well I did and it is showing a code of P 0483. But the truck seems to run fine. Does anybody know what this might be or can tell me where I can find out what it is?

P 0483 - What to do?

I'm also getting the P 0483 code. I checked the code list and saw it was the cooling fan speed.... Is this any big deal? Should I be concerned with what caused it, or just go ahead and reset it and go on with life? Is there a quick easy way to clear these things?

Cooling Fan Speed sounds like a TSB...if that is the case, a trip to the local dealer would get that fixed in a jiffy. I don't think that I would be concerned over fan speed..

Do you have the TSB number?? I looked and could not find any TSB's for the cooling fan?

this is the code Info.....

WHEN MONITORED
While the engine is running.

SET CONDITION
The actual fan speed is less than 75 RPM or more than 4000 RPM .

POSSIBLE CAUSES
  • Other DTC's
  • (K161) Signal circuit short to (K668) 5-volt supply circuit
  • (K161) Signal circuit open from ECM to fan clutch assembly
  • (K668) 5-Volt supply CKT open from ECM harness connector to fan clutch harness connector
  • Intermittent condition
  • (K161) Signal circuit shorted to (690) return in the harness
  • (K161) Signal circuit shorted to voltage
  • (K161) Signal circuit in ECM shorted to ground inside ECM
  • (K161) Signal circuit shorted to voltage in the ECM
  • (K668) 5-Volt supply circuit in ECM
Have you been hot rodding the RPM's past 4,000???
clean you fan clutch harness connection.
it could be a bad fan clutch assembly
but you need a meter to do those tests

I only have the one code... And, I don't do any hotrodding past 4,000 rpm. Everyday driving at 1,800 - 2,200 and I try to keep it under 2,800 when pulling.

I'll check my connections - and if all else fails run it by the dealer.... thx.
