Engine noise, jake brake pump????
I have a noise that only occurs at startup when I have my jake brake engauged and engine udled up to about 1100 rpm. Initally it sounds like a knocking noise and seems to go away when the jake is activated. The noise is only there when it is cold out(below 35 degrees), and only upon inital activation of the jake to warm up the cab. The jake vacuum pump appears to have some rust colored residew on it.....
any ideas, maybe a bad pump?????has 8,000 miles on it.......
