Engine light stays on in 03 CTD
Got my EGT gaauge installed today. I touched a couple of wires together during instalation which caused fuse #3 to blow. I changed the fuse, made sure nothing is touching. EGT gauge works but my engine light stays on, WHY? Did I screw something up or did the fuse tripping cause that? Wierd ......Thanks

Check the fuel cap to see it is on tight. See warning printed on the cap.
Also the light will go off if the truck has three successful start cycles without any malfunction.

Thanks, I will try the battery disconnect. I drove it around tonight and it runs perfect, 22MPG on the FWY. I think it is a glitch from the fuse blowing out. I tried the 3 times starting it but the light remains on....

It's more then 3 times before the code resets. I know because I had a code on my Jeep for an oxygen sensor and after I replaced it, the code still stayed for another week. I must have cycled the ignition 50 times during that week.
