ABS brake light stays on ?????
ABS brake light stays on ?????
On my 97' my ABS and emergency brake light stays on constantly. When I apply the E- brake the RED brake light in the dash gets brighter, but when I release it, it will get dimmer
but will never go out and the ABS light burns no matter what.
Just wondering if anyone has had this problem or knows what is up with these lights. I have checked the fuses under the dash, and they were fine. but my E-brake does not hold very well. Could this have a role to play with the problem. Thanks guys for any info.
Re:ABS brake light stays on ?????
Not sure about the 97's but sound like you need a new RWAL sensor located on the top onf the rear diff. Buy at Cummins and relpace yourself. Lights will go out when replaced. You probably need to adjust up the rear brakes and/or the e-cable.
Just had new rear shoes put on last week (factory ones were finally wore out) and had to adjust the e-brake. It only goes down 1/4 of of the way and it's tight.

Re:ABS brake light stays on ?????
Could also be as simple as a bad connection to the sensor on the rearend - check it before changing out the sensor. Most likely the sensor has gone bad.

Does your ABS work correctly or at all? I would suspect that it is nonfunctional.
Re:ABS brake light stays on ?????
Check your brake lights make sure they are all working, I had a burned out bulb and it caused mine to come on in my 96.

That sensor in the diff, may just need to be cleand too.
Good luck
GlennO
