Exclamation Engine hours vs. mileage on odometer

Care to post your engine hours and miles/Km?

I just got truck in sig a couple of weeks ago. I checked mine, and I think my truck did A LOT of idling before I got it...

58000 Km / 36250 miles...but 3385 hours

To check the hrs, turn the key to the run position (do not start) and push and hold (for about 5 seconds) the trip/odometer button on the instrument panel by the gauges. The hours pops up in the odometer.

Well there was no way I could fall asleep not knowing..lol
27435 miles & 696 hrs =39 mph. Man mine are all highway miles too!

Mine is 2867 hours and 87,025 miles. Average 30.4 miles per hour. Considering mine is a Houston city traffic daily driver for the last 4 years its not too bad. I do a fair amount of highway driving on the weekends.

67,653 miles / 1963 hours = avg 34.46 mph

With the amount of time I spend at red lights and parked in traffic I guess this is pretty good. I just got back from a 3350 mile trip mostly interstate and have only driven about 775 miles since then in the three weeks I have been back.

That is a lot of idling. Your average is 10.7 miles a hour!

Mine is 69786 miles and 1784 hours = 39.11

Hours

Interesting. You need to have the total miles displaying when you switch to run. Otherwise it just clears the trip odometer.
Now it was a wild display, if you are pressing the trip odometer reset button when you switch the key from Off to run,(non-start).
All the gauges tested, the tach ticked all the way over and back, speedometer did the same all warning lights came one. It was wild, Tokyo saturday night.
The odometer said C-code 00-00, whatever that was. I guess I should have seen if the truck still starts

It finally displayed 342 hours. 12,082 miles. That figures a little over 35mph avg.
Thanks for telling us about the hours. Thats good to know when looking at used trucks.

Dang it! I shouldn't have started this thread. So, my 36,000 mile truck has the same amount of hours at one that has ~100,000 miles. Great.......

Buscuit, that may have been a code check (Trouble codes).

You triggered the Intrument Cluster diagnostic check. The display C-Code 00-00 means that you have had no Instrument Cluster diagnostic codes. That is a good thing. The process to do this diagnostic is close to the hours display senario.

I read where you could have warranty problems if this number is below 35. Dodge frowns upon too much idling. The higher the number the better.
