Engine/Computer Updates, Dealer sez "NO".....
Ok, just dropped the ol' 2500 off for a couple of UJ's, state inspection and such. I ask the service writer if I can have the computer updated for any new updates. He states its a violation of federal law to plug it in unless a check engine light comes on and they then just check the codes.
Do I need to rephrase this? Any updates online that I can print out to SHOW him (I heard of a fuel injection update for mileage, perhaps here or other boards).
Help!
Thanks
Andy

andy, that is crap. federal law my butt.
do a search here for tsb. you'll find more than you will want to read. find applicable ones to your rig, print 'em, and take them in. then, if you hear the federal law B.S. again, ask to talk to the service manager.
good luck buddy. another reason why I AM MY OWN WARRANTY STATION....that and a few mods too.

A service writer is someone the can't handle managment, and
doesn't know one end of the vehicle from the other, so he can't be a tech. I know because I had listen to one of those guys every day (the owners son).

Some. There suppose to be a SERVICE ADVISOR/SALEMAN as the word implies. The BEST I ever hired always came from the big retail outlets/tire/brake stores.Ones brought up at dealer level usually stunk.
Don' let them get away with this crap. I let mine get awy with shunning some warranty work not long ago and now I'm kicking myself everyday. This seems to be a corporate downproblem. Everyday we are hearing more and more of this crap and I think that dodge is using the dealers to get out from under warranty and service work
Two DEEP breaths to make the blood pressure stabilize again and another night of drinking away the memory.
