Edge EZ
Edge EZ
My uncle has a 04 CTD auto, bone stock. Hes never been able to get any more than 12mpg, not even out on the highway. Truck has around 60,000 on it now i think. I was telling him that a small programmer or box would probably help him out a couple mpgs. I have a friend with an edge ez that will fit his truck and he said he's willing to let it go for only $150, which i think is a heck of a deal. Hes kind of hesitant to put it on his truck just for reasons of voiding his warranty, and he dont want to damage anything on his truck. He said if he knew he could get a couple mpg increase that he would go ahead and buy it. Hes a dairy farmer and does quite a bit of towing. Mostly hauling dairy cows to and from the stock yards. Would the EZ be enough to cause much damage to his tranny? Hes not looking for more power, he just wants a little better fuel economy.

Right from Edge themselves when I called them two weeks ago.
I asked what the difference between the EZ and the Juice was.
His response. The EZ takes less then 5 mins to install and uses the simplest way to increase power, It raises rail pressure. Hence why it si called the EZ
The Juice takes a few minutes more to install (have to drill pyro) but is safer due to it only changes timing and duration of the fuel events. (less injector problems).
If your Dad wants to keep warrenty intact and keep his truck for a long time then dont add anything to it.
If he wants to go the safest route then dont buy the EZ. Even though it is a good deal.
Save up for a Juice or other product that does not raise rail pressure to extremes.

If he's on the highway and empty and still can't get more than 12 something is just plain wrong. I think you should start with why he can't get more than 12.
I complain about 16 on the highway and doing 85. So let's try to help him in stock form get an acceptable stock mileage.
Start here
1. Is he empty
2. Does he run 85 like me
3. tires and pressure
4. air filter
5. Codes

My dad put an EZ on his 05 stocker and the "overhead liar" was reading 32 on the highway doin 75 but he hasnt checked the real mileage he says the digital readout makes him feel better... lol
My mileage check was hand calculated. Edge told me that the best results in mileage they got were from running it on Level 3....I tried all the levels and never got any improvements.
I drive kinda fast though as well...70-75 on HWY and 80-85 on the interstate. I did keep my foot outta it one time with only doing 70 down the interstate and got upwards to 19 MPG which is the best I've ever got. But for my daily driving....never saw a CONSISTENT improvement!
