Dually conversion, from DRW to SRW

I saw a Ford F350 yesterday that had about the same lift as mine but was a SRW conversion with at least 38's on it. I'm thinking this may be my cheaper route to go instead of buying 6 tires when it's time to replace, and I can fit a bigger tire. All that i can think of that needs to be done is pulling the spacer off of the front axle. Is there anything else involved in doing this?
