Does Pilot Injection turn off at high speed?

Yesterday I had to make a quick trip south and while going down the greenway I noticed an intermitten noise coming from the engine. It only seemed to do it when I was going above maybe 77 and up. It would come on usually when changing speed at high speed and only last for a bit then stop. Almost sounds like a pump coming on or mabe pilot injection turning off. Anybody else notice this? I did a search and couldn't find any discussion on this. Maybe it's normal? I was pretty use to the sounds of my old 12 valve, this one is a lot different. Just turned 3k miles. Thanks and Merry Christmas!!!
