disable pilot injection to make it louder?

Just curious if there would be a way to make a 3rd gen sound like an older cummins by turning off the pilot injection? Has anyone done this? Would it still run well?

I'd love to have one of the newer trucks like an early '04 if only it sounded like a 'real diesel'

Don't know if anyone has the ability to turn off the pilot injection but I do know with the SMARTY downloader and the Rokktech sensor for 2 additional degrees of timing my engine sounds pretty healthy. No where near as loud compared to the 12v's but good enough for me.

I believe Marco tried disabling the pilot injection at one time.(might have just been the 3rd event on the 600 engines) If memory serves me correct he said it ended up costing a good bit of power.
