Why does alum tube make turbo louder?
Why does alum tube make turbo louder?
Just have some questions on why these home-made torque tubes produce more turbo whisle than the stock setup? Is it because the aluminum or steel tubing creates a more tinny sound or is it just allowing more of the turbo sound to get thru more-so than the oem plastic?
I like the stock turbo sound and would like to hear more of it.... but I don't want to much of a good thing. Should I or not?

the piece that looks like it has a cross in it is designed to cut down on the noise. Almost all truck have them. If the truck is heavy enough, you just did a bid NO, NO...tampering with a noise control device.
I found little to no increase in turbo whistle going from the stock intake tube to the AFE plastic tube. the AFE tube has no baffles. the metal tubes are definately louder -- must be resonance. some have quieted down the metal intake tube with sound absorbing or damping material
