Trying to make the Turbo Louder??

I have removed the silencer ring but the turbo can still barely be heard inside the cab. I know the next step is cold air intake but I was curious if there was anything else I could do to make it louder? And which CAI gives me good filtration and good turbo whistle? (I was looking at S&B)

You do not live in California, do you? I read in Diesel Power that CARB is inspecting all 98 Light Duty Diesel now for Emission Testing and Registration. Meaning your Turbo Upgrade and Cold Air Intake might a skew the emission test if you live in Crappyolonia because it allows the engine to breath better than the factory wanted it to.

You could put a mic in there, and pump the audio out of your speakers. Just thinking outside of the box.

You can remove the silencer vanes from the intake down tube as well. A hack saw and a couple of well placed taps and they fall right out.

Like you said to hear it in the cab you need a CAI. I went with a K&N set up tube but with a AMSOIL nanofiber filter than the oil one from K&N. My setup whistles like a feight train come down the road.

I had a diesel mag a while ago and they did a shootout for intakes. I believe it was the afe that allowed the turbo to be heard the most. It the big blue filter that just has a shield above it.

I put the s&b on my truck and you can hear the turbo louder over stock very easily. Sometimes to the point of being annoying. In traffic the whine goes up and down as you hit thepedal and off again. It's what I wanted but sometimes be careful what you ask for.

I have removed my silencer ring and replaced my OE "intake muffler" with a MIT from Airraid. Its cheap and very effective. It makes some good noise, but nothing annoying when cruising or towing.

Based on dyno sheets that I have run and seen there is no need for a CAI below 450ish hp. Put your money into the MIT (keeps the best part of the OE intake, and ditches the worst) and a GDP intake horn. You will get more performance than a CAI, and be the same or less money.

Check out the ******* Whistler. He made an awesome intake that is supposed to whistle real good. Maybe someone knows where the post from him is....His intake is made from aluminum, so the sound is alot louder than using abs or rubber...

Part two https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...h-t158150.html

I have a lazier version of the *****'s, deleted silencer vanes from the tube, deleted silencer ring, used the stock tubing, toilet flange from home depot, an amsoil filter and pre filter sock
